When to Hire a Fractional CTO in Riyadh
A practical test for Saudi founders: when a retained technology leader in Riyadh beats another round of vendors or a premature full-time CTO search.

The Riyadh pattern
A founder in Riyadh often has a live product, a vendor or two, and a board asking what happens next. Hiring a full-time CTO in-Kingdom is slow and expensive. Doing nothing means architecture and hiring stay founder-owned. A Fractional CTO is the middle path: weekly ownership without a 90-day search.
Signals it is time
You are past informal engineering. Delivery dates slip for reasons nobody can name. Arabic and English product surfaces are treated as a translation task. Vendors propose stacks your local hiring market cannot staff. Investors asked for a 12-month technology plan and you do not have an owner for it.
On-site vs remote
Discovery and executive sessions work best in Riyadh. Delivery can be mixed. What matters is cadence, meaning a weekly decision forum. You don't need a desk in every office. If the team is in Jeddah, NEOM, or remote, leadership still needs one named owner.
What to do this week
Write the three technology decisions that would change revenue or risk. If those decisions have no owner, you do not have a CTO function. That is the conversation a Fractional CTO engagement is built for.
