Arabic–English Product UX for Saudi Startups

Bilingual UX is a product problem, not a translation afterthought. How Saudi teams should sequence Arabic and English without doubling the roadmap.

RTL is not a theme toggle

Arabic is a layout, type, and content-model problem. Forms, invoices, and KYC copy do not survive a last-minute translation pass. If the first release is English-only because 'we will add Arabic later', you are scheduling a rewrite of navigation, empty states, and support macros.

What to ship first

Ship the paid workflow in the language the customer actually uses. For many KSA SMEs that is Arabic on mobile and mixed Arabic/English in the back office. Keep one component system that can flip direction. Do not maintain two apps.

Vendors and content

Payment, identity, and messaging vendors in the Kingdom already assume bilingual receipts and OTPs. Your product should too. Treat copy as a product surface with owners, review, and a glossary. A freelancer dropping translations into Figma isn't enough.

Leadership implication

This is why local product leadership matters. A roadmap copied from a US SaaS playbook will hide Arabic until v2. A Fractional CTO or product lead in Riyadh will put bilingual UX on the first-release checklist.
